Weather

Minneapolis enjoys four distinct seasons—and every season has its fans. From warm summer nights to sparkling winter days, here are some tips to fill your suitcase with the right gear.

Summer (June through August)
You’ll want light, breathable clothes and comfortable walking shoes so you can take a walk on the Nicollet Mall, just blocks from the MCC, to take in a concert on Peavey Plaza or one of the many outdoor patios. A light sweater or a wrap will make the transition from outdoors to air conditioning easier.

Fall (September through early- to mid-November)
The air is crisp and the city is ablaze with color in fall. This is the perfect season to pull out your favorite sweater and jeans. But dress in layers because the day can start cool and warm up fast. Come evening, just grab a jacket and you’ll be dressed for a night out.

Winter (Mid-November through March)
Join in the outdoor winter festivities like the Holidazzle Parade on Nicollet Mall and stay toasty with ski-weight clothes. If you prefer to stay close to the Minneapolis Convention Center and the indoor skyway system, you won't need any additional layers to stay comfortable. Walk from the MCC to your hotel to a restaurant or club without stepping foot outdoors.

Spring (March through May)
Warm sunny days and cool nights let you leave your jacket off during the day but you’ll want to bring it along for your evening walk to one of the area's many restaurants.
